Slim

022Slim’s an old favorite of mine. I downloaded pics of him probably a good 2-3 years ago now. I was thinking about him last night for some reason – in conjunction with this site – so thought it was about time to load up pics.

Lean, toned… a construction worker (d’uh). Love his snakebites too. A bit too edgy skater for me to take on most of the time, but I can admire without a doubt ;)

More pics after the break!

Duncan Russell

outer_forearmOK – found this guy through workhard2121… he’s one of his inspirational guys.

Physique is awesome (although I do prefer workhard’s) – but what I’m really resonating too here in the tattoo. It amalgamates a lot of what I love – meaning, story, and design – I’ve always loved the 3 stripe adidas on the forearm, this takes it to the next level and adds lots of depth to it. Edgy but meaningful.

Sacrifice

It was a while ago that I came across this saying. I know I found it on the Animal site – by a writer called G Diesel. But I can’t for the life of me find the article again.

I just did a quick Google search… apparently:

To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.

Was written by Charles Dubois. A smart man.

And I could agree with this statement more. We are whoever we are in a particular moment, let there’s this strong attachment to who we’ve been – we’re comfortable there, it’s a known quantity. But we’re never going to be the same. In fact the greatest growth occurs when we change – sometimes irrevocably.

We have to be comfortable letting go of that comfort and certainty (?) of identity in order to grow. I did that when I emigrated. I do that when I go on my hikes. It’s so freeing.

And recently I realized another important statement I mentioned in the previous post: freedom from / without attachment. That insight originated from the realization that having / owning stuff isn’t bad. But defining yourself through what you have and being tied to it – through debt – has intense consequences.

Both of these elements – the ability to sacrifice and the ability to be free from attachment – are two things that I’ve grown away from. I was a lot more free / independent (independence in the context of life / materialism) a couple of years ago. I experienced that in a huge way when I returned from my trek last year. It’s the happiest I’ve been in my entire life. I want to have that statement marked. Forever.

What My Tat Would Say…

So – I’m still excited about that tat I commented on yesterday… what’s important is to decide what it’s gonna say. Of course, with larger arms, the more you can say…

I’ve got a couple of statement that I’d consider having forever… these statements are some that I’ve returned to a lot over the past few years – with a new one I recently discovered. I’m gonna discuss that in a future post.

  • You can only regret what you don’t do (not what you do)
  • Freedom from / without attachment
  • Experience, not to have
  • One day at a time

And then some more detailed / quote like sayings that I’ve really resonated towards:

  • Be the change you wish to see in the world
  • To be able to at moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become

Design wise, I love what the guy’s done – not filling in the words / letters, but just keeping an outline. I love it. But – I would structure the sentences better, so that they wrap around the arms, rather than just interfere loosely.

Wow – I really am thinking about this eh ;) I’ve just gotta decide when would be a good time to do it… ie arm size wise, and also stability wise – I don’t want to do it when I peak, and then have it all deflate on me :s

Another Goal

DSC04017So – I was looking through some of the pics of guys on this site – and the one you can see to the left really caught my attention. I love their bold stances. I love the strength that just emanates. That would be an incredible ending place. Realistic? Realistically no, but I just love that pic… and it ties into my previous entry because the bigger guy’s wearing the UA shirt ;)

Gear Goal

So here’s something that I’ve been thinking about today… I’m looking at growing. Lots. And in the next few minutes, after this post is uploaded, I’m going to upload another “GOAL” – that’s so far out there that it’s laughable. But it’d be awesome.

Anyways… in the meantime… I’ve always thoroughly LOVED Under Armor. When the football players wear it… the athletes… etc… To me it really communicates an excellent body, because quite simply, you can’t get away with wearing it without a good body. Sorry to those people who try – but you suck.

It’d be great that over time, I can acquire more and more Under Armor gear… which would boost the ego by showcasing / showing off the body. Yes – there is an element of showing off here. But I think that’s a part I’d thoroughly enjoy, since it’s never existed before.

Anyways – it’s just an idea right now… long ways off yet… maybe in 6 months? Or how about I set that as a goal…. hmmm… leave that one with me.

Brandon Biebel

5-12-2009 2-10-38 PMSo today’s a quiet day at work – so I’m starting to sync all my photos that I’ve downloaded at work onto this blog…

So this dude is cool – not so much body (he’s a skater dude… so it’s a bit more lean – somewhat buff though) – but style defintiely. Have actually invested in a lot of stuff that he has right now ;) Hehe – hint hint.

So yeah – click on to see pics after the break. Let me know what you think…

Channing Tatum

image008OK – this guy’s so awesome. But he also fluctuates in buffness according to his roles in fashion and movies… right now he’s really buff because he’s playing in GI Joe… but at other times, when he’s been modelling / dancing, he’s a lot leaner.

As you can imagine, I’m liking the buffness… check it out after the break!

Dom Rebel

I was looking up punk gear the other day – you know, to transform Sparky into someone with more edge… and I came across the company Dom Rebel. They’ve got some fantastic gear… and while expensive ($120 for a tee), and you need an amazing bod (nudge nudge Sparky), they’re awesome.

I’ve got some pics I’ve pulled from their latest campaign after the break…
